Lawrence Central boys soccer continued their undefeated this season with a dominant 4-0 home win over Bishop Chatard yesterday evening. A sharp first half and strong team effort on both sides of the pitch led the Bears to their second straight shutout victory.
Christian Facundo got the Bears on the board early in the first half, taking a sharp pass from Bryce Bush and delivering it into the net. Facundo also quickly became the provider, dishing the ball to Alfonso Rodriguez for Lawrence Central’s second goal. The Bears kept pounding away, and Amare Reese struck to make it three before the half when he capitalized on a rebound to push the margin out to 3-0.
Lawrence Central was on target in the second half. Kevin Diaz scored the fourth and final goal on a pass from Bryce Bush, who had his second assist of the game.
Facundo scored once and assisted, and Bush assisted twice from the midfield in a great showing The Bears’ defense which was led by goalkeeper Trevor Bush was rock-solid throughout the match shutting down chances for Bishop Chatard and claiming his second clean sheet of the year.

Now 2-0-0 on the year, Lawrence Central has scored nine goals and conceded none in its first two games. The team will look to continue its great start on Thursday when they travel to Pendleton Heights and look to improve their record to 3-0-0.
