LCPAA prepares for annual winter concert

This year, the Lawrence Central Performing Arts Association is hosting their annual winter concert on Thursday, December 5th as well as Friday, December 6th. The show will include performances from LC choirs, band, orchestra, dance, theatre, and more. Everyone in the performing arts department has been working hard and preparing for a long time, specifically for this show. Every year, this show is a big part of performing arts kids school days.

“We’ve been working roughly since October, on the music,” Orchestra teacher Craig Ghormley said. “When we get back from Thanksgiving break, we have something like a dress rehearsal and a tech rehearsal.”

While each area of the performing arts department will do their own pieces for the show, some will also collaborate and work together. For example, the orchestra will perform pieces with the band, and with certain choirs, as well as by themselves.

“We are singing three songs in our choir,” Senior Izaiah Fontanez said. “We have been practicing every class for the winter concert.”

A tradition for the concert every year is for the bands, choirs, and orchestras is to perform the song “A Christmas Festival”. Along with traditions, all our performing arts groups have brand new pieces to perform.

“The concert will be really good this year, we have been working hard in class for a long time,” Davyeon Lewis said.

Good luck to all the participating students and don’t miss the show!
